If you are trying to find some Austin apartments on a budget, do not become immediately discouraged if you start to get the impression that there is simply no way for you to ever afford to live in this city. This probably is not the case whatsoever; it probably just means that you need to do a better job of looking for apartments that are more likely to suit your needs. A thorough search will probably get you the results you desire.
You need to first set a reasonable price limit. Living in Austin is undoubtedly going to cost more than living in a small town in the middle of nowhere, but think about everything that you are going to get in return! You are going to get to see the most cutting edge music and cultural events in the entire country, so it will be well worth the expense once you start getting to know the city.
Another thing to think about is that finding low rates might mean that you are going to have to look outside of the downtown district or some of the trendy neighborhoods. However, this shouldn’t indicate that it is impossible to still have fun in Austin. You can easily get around on bicycle or via public transportation, which means that living a little bit away from the crowds is not necessarily a bad thing.
Or, to start out, why not try finding an apartment with some of your friends. If you are like most young people these days, you have some friends who have a similar interest in moving to Austin. As a result, you might find it best to split the rent on a two-bedroom apartment until you find a steady source of income, and then branch out on your own at a later point in time.
